2025 Hometown Heroes
Each year, One South Euclid takes great pride in honoring those whose exceptional contributions make our community a better place to live, work, and thrive. The Hometown Heroes program celebrates individuals and organizations whose dedication and service leave a lasting impact. This year, we are proud to introduce our 2025 Hometown Heroes, along with one inspiring young leader who is already making waves as our Emerging Hometown Hero.
Angela Thompson: Shaping Young Minds for Over 30 Years
For nearly three decades, Angela Thompson has been a pillar of Rowland Elementary School, shaping the lives of generations of South Euclid children. With a heart for education, Thompson has devoted her career to not only teaching but mentoring, nurturing, and guiding students toward success. Her unwavering commitment to her students and her role as a safe space for countless children makes her more than just a teacher—she’s a trusted mentor, role model, and advocate for education. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom, earning her the admiration and respect of students, parents, and colleagues alike.
Justin Capadona: A Lifelong Commitment to Service
As a firefighter with the South Euclid Fire Department, Justin Capadona has dedicated 20 years to serving our community. Known for his bravery and quick thinking, Capadona became a local hero after leading a courageous rescue during a recent apartment fire. His actions exemplify the true meaning of service and selflessness. But it’s not just his heroic acts that make him a standout—Capadona is a leader in his department, consistently going above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of South Euclid residents. His legacy of service continues to inspire his fellow firefighters and the entire community.
South Euclid-Lyndhurst PTA: A Legacy of Support
For over 75 years, the South Euclid-Lyndhurst PTA has been an integral part of the community, supporting families, students, and educators through a variety of initiatives. From organizing events to raising funds for educational programs, the PTA’s tireless efforts have made a lasting impact on the South Euclid-Lyndhurst schools and beyond. The group’s unwavering dedication to advocating for students and fostering a sense of community makes them a true cornerstone of the South Euclid area. Their continuous work ensures that South Euclid remains a place where families and children thrive.
Lily Goodwin (DJ Lily Jade): A Voice of Inspiration
At just 11 years old, Lily Goodwin—better known as DJ Lily Jade—has already accomplished more than most people could dream of in a lifetime. As a published author, radio host, and DJ, Lily uses her platform to inspire and uplift others, showing the world that age is no barrier to making a meaningful impact. Through her radio show and her DJ performances, Lily has become a voice for youth empowerment and community engagement. As this year’s Emerging Hometown Hero, Lily is proof that leadership and service can start at any age, and her future is sure to be filled with even greater achievements.
These four individuals and organizations represent the heart and soul of South Euclid—a community bound together by service, spirit, and a shared commitment to making our city a better place for all. Join us in celebrating their extraordinary contributions and the lasting impact they have made on South Euclid.
